APD Communications Moves Closer to Hull's Tech Hub

C4DI company members, APD Communications, have moved across the road from our building to brand-new purpose-designed headquarters.

Located next to Hull Minster, in the heart of the city’s historic Old Town, APD’s 100+ employees are enjoying collaborative workspaces, state-of-the-art facilities and access to a host of local services, including tasty eateries and a thriving retail scene.

Founded in the 1980s by two academics at the University of Hull, APD has developed cutting-edge technology for over 35 years and is now acknowledged as a market leader in software development.

APD specialises in mission critical solutions, providing software to the emergency services, public safety and control room markets. Their solutions are used by more than two-thirds of UK police forces, as well as major transport hubs, such as the London Underground and Gatwick and Dubai International airports.

The new office is designed specifically to support existing and new APD customers, enabling the team to thrive on communication and collaboration.

APD Commercial Director, Rhiannon Beeson, who managed the project, talked about what the new business headquarters means for the business:

"Everything has been designed with employee feedback in mind - we've been able to deliver this move and provide a working environment of this quality because of the effort people have put into growing the business over a number of years. This is something the team has been working for - they've made this happen.”

APD’s new home has been delivered by a number of Hull-based companies, including Allenby Commercial, KCOM, office design company RFD, building services company Airco and network infrastructure provider Paragon Data Services.

“The location is brilliant. The Old Town is one of the nicest parts of Hull, with great facilities and places to eat all around us,” Support Team Leader Dave Campbell exclaims.

“A really modern, fresh environment with lots of collaborative meeting spaces.”

Of course, an additional benefit of the move is that the growing team is now situated a stone’s throw away from our growing technology hub.

"We're so excited to be closer to the C4DI community," says Jane Cross, Channel Marketing Lead at APD.

Jane adds, "Being here gives everyone in our team more opportunities to get to know everyone at C4DI a little better, as well as attend the many events and networking sessions on offer."
