This year’s Hull Digital Awards celebrated so many innovative tech projects and startups, and we’re proud to say that many of them are based in our very own building.

Good2Learn bagged Best Digital Startup for their pioneering educational platform that aims to bridge the gap between classroom and home learning.  

We caught up with founder Paul Mandalia to find out more about their success since launching in spring this year…

NASA Space Apps organiser and resident tech genius @ C4DI, Rob Miles, has been working quietly away on a Martian Wrist Watch that the wearer can use to protect themselves on the surface of the Red planet…

James and Ben from Summit media are joined by Uni of Hull students Rhys and Miles as they attempt to tackle the Polar Opposites challenge by using data to visualise changes in the Polar Ice caps.

Starflower aim to build a piece of hardware which follows the sun no matter what planet you happen to be on! This has the ability to draw energy from the greatest natural resource we have – The Sun.

This mammoth Hull Uni Comp Sci Society team have come together to create a website which tracks when the next rocket launch is around the world, complete with a rotating globe that shows the launches in real time.

The team from Global View Systems have teamed up with Will Prichard a C4DI member to create a fire tracking app that brings together an entire community to tackle some of the world’s biggest fires.

Working on a project called Doomsday, they are attempting to pool local data to create an app which prepares people for local disasters. They are representing Cloud 2 at this year’s Space Apps challenge.

This aptly named team are creating a polar quest game which establishes what resources you, the player needs to continue on the quest. This sounds like an exciting project from a team that came together on the day.

This group of Uni students are trying to find and fight fires by pooling together multiple sources including, Twitter, phones and word of mouth and turn this function into a web app.

On Thursday 25 October, we’ll be hosting a very special event at the wonderful Hull Minster.

During the event, we’ll be launching an exciting partnership with Barclays Eagle Labs, which aims to accelerate tech and traditional industry in the city and across the region.
