C4DI member Hayden Barton has hit the papers this week after his success building the world’s smallest Arduino – a piece of hardware that has the ability to interact and control all sorts of everyday electronic objects.

We spoke with the inspiring and gifted 22-year-old to find out more about his work and how these tiny microcontrollers are changing the way we live, work and play.

Schools across the region are invited to nominate their Digital Champions for the first Junior Digital Awards.

The Junior Digital Awards 2018 have been launched by Hull Live – the area’s leading news, sport and information website, brought to you by the Hull Daily Mail – and local communications provider KCOM, in partnership with Hull’s Centre for Digital Innovation (C4DI) tech hub.

Businesses large and small are being urged to enter the 2018 Hull Digital Awards.

Run by Hull Live and KCOM, and supported by the city’s C4DI, the awards give fledgling start-ups and established companies alike the chance to showcase their talents in one of the city’s most exciting sectors.

The deadline for entries is August 5, and Hull’s digital ambassador has said businesses would be “foolish not to take advantage” of the opportunity.

Jo Mann’s incredible story started at Hull College, where she first trained as a Chef and Catering Manager.

Today, she is the Public Safety Risk and Intelligence Manager for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS), as well as the National Lead for Data Collection and Sharing for the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC).

HFRS is a corporate member of C4DI and Jo is currently working with talent within the community to innovate and develop the Fire and Rescue Service.
