Oliver Dowden, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, has revealed that the government will be publishing a new digital strategy in Autumn, in an announcement made at the UK Tech Cluster Group (UKTCG) Roadmap to Recovery Summit yesterday (June 23).

The Digital Secretary, who closed the virtual conference with a keynote speech, highlighted how Coronavirus has delivered a ‘sucker punch’ to the economy and explained the leading role tech must play in helping the UK get back on its feet.

Retail has returned to Hull’s Fruit Market, with delighted traders re-opening their doors to offer a safe shopping experience to customers. The Fruit Market retail community is welcoming back customers who have been missing their shopping trips to the waterfront urban village.

Hull’s employer-led school, Ron Dearing University Technical College (UTC), has been rated as “Outstanding” across the board in its first Ofsted inspection.

Inspectors visited the school for an in-depth review in March, before the lockdown period, and gave it a glowing verdict in their report published today.

I am a fifteen year old student in year 10 and really enjoying learning coding and computer science. With the extensive free time that the COVID-19 outbreak has brought to many of us, I decided to build a virus tracker website, which has a very simple, colourful and understandable user interface, so that people can view the latest figures and information with ease, including statistics for each country, such as total deaths or total cases per million. I originally got the idea from a web site that somebody else created, but felt there was much greater scope for exploring the information in more depth.

We expect that before too long the government will announce a gentle, staged releasing of the lockdown. As a result, over the last few weeks, we’ve been working on four key post-lockdown areas which we can adapt and change as government advice develops.
