Women of the World art presented to the C4DI for its support of International Women’s Day.

Last week the C4DI received some beautiful artwork as a thank you for hosting the tremendously successful “Women in Tech” event as part of “Women of Hull” week!

Karen, who presented the artwork to C4DI, is a Community Support Worker, Director of Freedom Festival, Director of Hull 2017 and overall community activist. Karen organised the Women of Hull 2018 programme with the ambition of posing questions such as “What is it like to be a woman in Hull?”, “Do women have an equal role in today’s society?”, and “How far have we progressed in the 100 years since some women in the UK have had the right to vote?” via a variety of events constructed around International Women’s Day. The C4DI addressed the issues women face in the Tech Industry by inviting some of Hull’s inspirational women in tech to share their experiences in the sector with both presenters and attendees being asked “ what can be done to encourage more women to enter the industry”?

The event was chaired by the fabulous Jenny Howard Coombes (Executive Director of the Freedom Festival Arts Trust) and the live stream remains available to view below.
