The talent in our community doesn’t stop when people leave the building at the end of the working day. For example, Jessica Palmer spends her days as the Accounts Manager for AdView here at C4DI, but has been spending time outside of work as an actor and producer on ‘Northern Fall’, a new feature film set in the UK’s very own City of Culture; Hull.

‘Northern Fall’ is a crime thriller that will showcase and expose talent from Hull and the North of England, and is currently crowdfunding on Indiegogo. Their goal of £20,000 will cover the production costs and will allow them to recruit over 70 local actors, technicians and artists.

Jessica is a Hull-born actor and heard about the project at a local film networking event here in Hull. “I’ve always been involved in the Arts, however, I never really thought about being on the other side of the camera.” She explains, “When I listened to Jack’s vision of the film ‘Northern Fall’, I knew straight away that this was an exciting project and I wanted to be involved.”

Jack Grewar, writer and director, summarises the film: “My ambition for Northern Fall is to create a dark and mysterious environment in which the characters, each holding their own secrets and motivations, ultimately clash, leading to an exciting climax. Thematically it’s explores masculinity and the similarities and differences between men in a world of crime and obsession. Each character is pursuing either money, morality or both.” The teaser trailer can be seen here.

Jessica continues about the team behind the film: “We are all creatives and have the same passion for making films, but are equally passionate about our city, Hull. We already have a great team working hard on the film and we have many crowd funding events organised for the months to come, in order to try raise as much money as possible.”
