IT Support Engineer (2ndLine Support)

About the IT Support Engineer job

Our IT Support Engineers are the escalation point for our service desk team. The Support Engineers work with our customers on guiding them through technical advice and fault resolution while keeping in line with our service level agreements. Customer support is often carried out remotely but there will be regular visits to customer sites.

This role would suit someone who has experience in an IT Support role or similar and who has great communication skills.

You will be responsible for

·      Provide technical support to APD’s customers and work with internal teams on ongoing issues or projects

·      Management of Software updates and configuration changes at sites

·      Creation and maintenance of a Customer documentation and provision of training to other Support personnel on the intricacies of customer architecture

·      Provision of on-site support (usually during business hours but out of hours if required) to customers and 3rdparty suppliers across the APD Support customer and product base, both in the UK and internationally

What you have already done

·    Strong customer service/communication skills, in both person and by telephone.

·    Excellent analytical/problem solving skills

·    Technical Skills:

o   Ability to Install, configure, utilise, support and test software on Servers and Workstation PCs, e.g. Client OS (Windows 7, 8.1 and 10), Server OS (Windows Server 2012, 2016), SQL Server (2012, 2014, 2016, 2017), Remote Access Software (such as Pc Anywhere, Dameware, WebEx and VNC), Diagnostic tools (e.g. Perfmon, Event Viewer)

o   Ability to perform PC maintenance including BIOS and System memory upgrades, swapping out Hard disk drives, Installation of expansion cards, e.g. Serial cards, Graphics and Sound cards

o   Ability to perform Server maintenance including BIOS and System memory upgrades, swapping out Hard disk drives, configuration of RAID
